Helping Traditional & Indie Authors Bring Their Manuscripts to Life!

My August reading for pleasure books and reviews.

It Ends With Us is book 1 in a Colleen Hoover series of the same name. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this book. It kept my interest; the characters were wonderfully portrayed and the plot engaging. I also had the opportunity to see the movie adaptation for this one and the book is better than the movie. But isn’t that usually the case. However the cast was great and Blake Lively played Lily’s role well.

The Bookstore Sisters is book 1 in Alice Hoffman’s Once Upon a Time Bookshop Stories series. It was a nice short story and quick read. It revolves around two sisters who lose their mother at a young age and the loss impacts their adult life and their sisterly bond. The characters are interesting; the pace is easy, and the plot engaging.

Escaping Destiny is book 3 in Amelia Hutchins’ The Fae Chronicles series. The lead in from book 2 to book 3 had me reading until the wee hours of the morning and I didn’t see it coming. I should have, but I was way too enthralled with the story to care. I just needed to know. So a wonderful 3rd book in this series and am currently hooked on book 4 too. The spice of book 3 is hot and fabulous. Ryder and Syn grow more interesting and hot with every chapter! I can’t say enough about this series so far. I love it.

Can You Keep a Secret? is my only standalone novel read this month. It’s by Sophie Kinsella. This book read was a group read for Bewitching Bookers on fb. This book wasn’t for me. It felt very Bridget Jones Diary, but wasn’t able to pull it off. The MC didn’t engage me in a positive way. She annoyed me more than anything and I couldn’t get past it. I finished the book and the plus side is there were some funny parts in the book that made me laugh out loud, so that helped a bit.
